Office 12 Beta Apps won't start on Vista RC1 Build 5600

Hi,

Installed Office 12 Beta on a fresh installation of Vista (x86) RC1 Build
5600.
Installation suceeds but when I try to start any of the office apps I get

"A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will notify
you if a solution is available." Only option is a "Close program" button.

I've even tried starting them in XP Compatability mode but get the same
error.

Office 2003 wors fine though

RE: Office 12 Beta Apps won't start on Vista RC1 Build 5600

From: microsoft.com/windowsvista/getready/preview.mspx

2007 Office System Beta 2 compatibility
If you are using 2007 Office system Beta 2 be sure to download the 2007
Microsoft Office system Beta 2 Technical Refresh, the most recent update.
(The Technical Refresh is required to use Office Beta 2 with Windows Vista
RC1.)

Here is the link for Office Refresh, however, it is currently not available.
I am thinking that when they release Vista RC1 to the public, they will also
release the Office update.

Re: Office 12 Beta Apps won't start on Vista RC1 Build 5600

Yeah ain't that sompin. I have a book called "How would you Move Mount
Fuji" on anecdotes inside MSFT aka how neurotic can a company get?

They talk about interviews where the interviewer would just walk out after
shaking hands never to be seen again.

Here's the deal:

MSFT has a post fot he refresh that goes no where on of course the Vista
site because Vista Schmista Office Schmoffice-- I mean they're all software
right. How much nuance and detail do ya need from the busy sophisticates
anyway?

But the bottom line is that the crap they posted that you need the Tech
Refresh Beta 2 to work on RC1 is pure lies.

I know hundreds of people using Office 2007 Beta 2 on every build of Vista
through RC1and get used to it RC1 is gong to be RTM and they both are the
new Beta 1.

Whoever posted that didn't know what they were doing. And of course they
work at MSFT.

Re: Office 12 Beta Apps won't start on Vista RC1 Build 5600

Markie that notice on the Vista site about needing to is happy horsecrap
from the horsecrap company of the century MSFT.

However, since you have a problem with ole Office 07, you have the option to
fix it with Repair:

Users can either run Repair through the Control Panel, use Add/Remove
Programs for Office products, or run Customer Watson Setup Diagnostics.

Or you may have to install the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility--here:
(Best Practices for Uninstalling Office and used by the Office setup teams
on their newsgroups when there are problems).

http://support.microsoft.com/default...&Product=offxp

Highlight all Office related entries on it and click OK--it removes corrupt
install, uninstall files and reg strings then uninstall and reinstall Office
2007.

Odd, the copy I got with the Office 2007 Beta program works beautifully on
my machine. Are you sure your Office 2007 installation file isn't corrupt?

Microsof Windows Vista Ultimate v6.0.5600-16384
Microsoft Office v12.0.4017.1003

My Office 12 Beta installation file information is here:
05/28/2006 11:58 AM 461,881,224 OPPLUS-EN.EXE
MD5: 7FC65A38B6BD9DCE0563AFEA2C5B9A93

I too installed this on a freshly installed copy of Windows Vista as well.
Hope you solve your trouble soon!

Steven

I was able to get mine working fine. Just wondering are you running Vista
32 or 64? I have it running on 64.

RE: Office 12 Beta Apps won't start on Vista RC1 Build 5600

The TR1 download won't do any good if you can't get Office 2007 beta 2 to
install. I loaded Vista pre RC1 and cannot get any of the 2007 Office betas
to install. What I found interesting, Office 2003 won't install either. I
had to go back to Office XP.

Re: Office 12 Beta Apps- cost $1.50 each

I just went to the Office 2007 download area, logged in etc and saw:
" Select each product you wish to download for a download service fee of
$1.50 each " and expires in Feb 2007
