CHKDSK Fail in VISTA

I checked all the solutions for XP, and I tried (I suppose ) all of them, but
I still cannot get chkdsk /f to work when I boot Vista Ultimate. Anyone?

Re: CHKDSK Fail in VISTA

Are you seeing a message when it fails to run at start up?

My friend , don't say " I tried all of them ----". Specify what you had tried.
Ex. have you tried to do it in Safe mode ? Safe Mode with Command Prompt ?

Hello George,

See if you have tried all of the methods in this tutorial on running chkdsk.

Check Disk - chkdsk

If you have, then see if this tutorial can help you to get chkdsk to run at startup.

Chkdsk will Not Run at Startup in Vista

Hope this helps,
Shawn

Re: CHKDSK Fail in VISTA

Run As Administrator is not on the context menu for the Run icon. I think
he would have to send the shortcut to the desktop and set it to run
elevated. I don't recall any details on doing that but Mick or somebody
probably does.

Re: CHKDSK Fail in VISTA

You MUST run CHKDSK from a repair disk. You can down load a repair disk
image suitable for burning a DVD from the 'net.
