Vista - Icacls command problem

Why is it that it can't find files with spaces in there names? Like C:\System
Volume Information I tried putting %20 instead of spaces which didn't work.

This is the command that I use, replacing username with mine:

icacls C:\System Volume Information /grant Username:F

The system cannot find thee file specified.....yadayadayadaya

I even tried renaming the folder, which then it just disappears, then after
I refresh the screen, it reappears, but with the original name.....help

Hmmn, such a basic mistake.. so basic in fact, that I cannot understand how
you got to be using the ICACLS command without knowing such an elementary
thing.

You need to put addresses within quotes when they have spaces in them,
unless you are using the cd (chdir) command. So your command should have
been:

icacls "C:\System Volume Information" /grant Username:F

Heh, I didn't even realise what you were trying to do. You really do not
want to give yourself access to the System Volume Information directory. Do
not mess with it. If you want to free up disk space that it is using,
delete your System Restore points and Shadow Copy data.
