| Guest | Domain Profile defaults to Temporary instead of Local - Please H It appears others have been getting this error for some time, though I can’t find any solutions or work around or even suggestions on things to try to resolve this. I have Windows Vista RC1 and am having an issue with the Profiles. I have a local user that was created during the initial install and it works correctly. I then joined the Machine to our Existing Windows 2003 SP1 Domain. When I login using my domain account it will only give me a temporary user profile. But if I log in using the Domain Administrator Account it works correctly by creating a Local Profile. I cannot get it to create my domain account as a Local Profile, only a Temporary Profile is created. So none of my changes or Personalization’s is being kept! The things in the log file that appear are: --------------------------------------------------- Log Name: Application Source: Microsoft-Windows-User Profiles Service Date: 9/11/2006 3:46:19 PM Event ID: 1530 Task Category: None Level: Warning Keywords: Classic User: SYSTEM Computer: Gary-PC Description: Windows detected your registry file is still in use by other applications or services. The file will be unloaded now. The applications or services that hold your registry file may not function properly afterwards. Thanks in advance -Drokare |

| Guest | RE: Domain Profile defaults to Temporary instead of Local - Please H Hi, I was getting this problem and I was at the end of my tether. Some users could log onto Vista fine and have their profiles remembered, some were always temporary and all settings/prefs were dumped upon logging out. I had a look in Active Directory and the users that were forced to use temporary accounts were all members of the Domain Guest group. I removed them from the Domain Guest group and all is now well. Hope this helps. | Guest | RE: Domain Profile defaults to Temporary instead of Local - Plea I've got the same problem now but I am not part of the domain guests group. I've added another user and she's fine on my machine as well as the domain admin account. Just everytime I log in I get the temp profile popup and no profile created in users "Paul Fisher" wrote: > Hi, > > I was getting this problem and I was at the end of my tether.
