Really annoying problems that i cant seem to fix

I quite litterly have no idea whats causing these problems.

ok heres whats going on

previous install of vista home premium had a virus, so i reformatted
the hd and reinstalled vista

apon using windows update, it froze around update #25, and windows
modules installer stopped working

but thats only 1 problem

Now i have a issue with the windows licensing service, one second my
windows is legit, the next it isnt, the next windows licensing stops
working

ive tried to reinstall 5+ times now, on 2 different harddrives, and it
does the same thing on both

Is this a machine you built yourself or something like a Dell? Did you
reinstall using the Dell (or other manufacturer) method or do you have a
retail Vista DVD?

If you have a retail version there may be some drivers for the
motherboard missing or wrong, that by itself could possible explain why
you are not getting anywhere. If you built the machine yourself and you
have CDs that came with the motherboard you need to format the drive and
reinstall the CD stuff before trying Vista.

If you read Dave's post then maybe you could try testing the RAM before
ever starting with Vista. You will need to be able to burn a CD to do
that. Can you use another machine to do that?

Also if you can, make sure all Memory sticks and cards are securely
installed in the case.

im going to try the memory test, all my drivers for the motherboard
work, ive installed vista previously and it worked fine, but i believe
it is hardware, i put my old 2x512 sticks of ddr2 ram back in, and so
far no errors have appeared, and vista is staying activated, im going
to run the memory test with the other ram in and see what it says

but yes i have retail vista home premium, bought it from bestbuy, but
this one works fine, and ill burn the cd in a min, and reply with the
results later on

Re: Really annoying problems that i cant seem to fix

well um, it worked fine for a while, it updated till update 41/60, and
then windows modules installer stopped working, and then windows
licensing software stopped working

and now my windows is validated, but i cannot install any updates, i
also cannot even install vista sp1

it throws out a error
which is 0x0800736CC
