Vista - Screen goes black when Vista 32bit loads....

Hi guys. Ive had my computer for almost a year with no problems. Last night it had its first. I turn the computer on and the monitor works fine, i can see the start up process but right when the globe for vista should show the screen goes black and then says "no signal" and never comes back on. I can still hear vista loading though but it never comes back onto the screen. When i started the computer in safe mode i was able to load vista. I ran a virus check that found nothing. This morning i did a system restore and now i cannot even get windows to load in safe mode. When i try to load it normally the screen goes black. when i try to load into safe mode the screen goes black by i an see and move the mouse cursor. Any ideas? I tryed to see if i had a start up repair option by hitting F8 but all it did was ask me to pick the drive to boot to first. I have a recovery disk from the manufacturer. should i use this? Will it erase everything on the hard drive? I do not want to lose my photos or music. Any ideas guys? This is my system specs:

NVidia Geforce GTX 768 MB graphics card
Soundblaster sound card
500 GB hard drive
DVD Drive
DVD/RW Drive
