This box keeps popping up every couple of minutes in my laptop screen telling me that my laptop has 23 threats and there is a link at the bottom left where I can install the actual program (which you need to pay) and repair the viruses (which I don't need because I have mcafee). It doesn't matter if I X out because the obnoxious box keeps coming back after a couple of minutes.

How do I stop this? I already uninstalled the program (I didn't mean to install it in the first place) from my laptop but the box keeps coming back.

Uninstalling it from "Programs & Features" should remedy the problem. However I would run a thorough scan with your McAfee and Spybot Search & Destroy to help make sure that you are clean if those threat warnings are real.

No, it didn't come with the laptop. This was today while I was on the internet (I was at www.media-convert.com) when suddenly I was taken to this page where it said that I could get a free virus scan (because my mcafee got expired and the protection is low and was told not to update it by my elder sister). So I did and by that it just installed itself into my laptop. Shortly after the box I mentioned kept appearing. I unstalled the program completely and after a couple of the minutes the box showed up. Check in Task Manager to see if you can find the process running for the program and "End Process" it. Next, I would check to make sure that there was not another entry in Programs & Features used to uninstall it. Sometimes a restart afterwards is required to finish uninstalling items of the program that were running at the time of the uninstall to. Originally Posted by WildStriker

I don't believe it. It came back. Not even if I end tasked it would it permanatly go away. The dialogue box comes back once only if I shut down the laptop and on.

Once you find the startup program that is the cause, look to see what EXE and it's location it is loading and see if the program for it is listed in "Programs & Features" to uninstall.
