It is a new version of Windows and it uses a great deal more resources than XP. What do you need to do that requires so much adjustment? |

| Vista Home Premium x64 SP1 | Re: Vista question I don't know if you can get Vista to use as little resources as a 7 year old operating system like XP, but you can shut off Aero by simply right-clicking your desktop, selecting Personalize, Window Color and Appearance, Open classic appearance properties for more color options, and selecting Windows Vista Basic. This will render the desktop the same way as XP, although I doubt this will do anything for performance as Aero is rendered by your video card, and may actually make your Vista experience faster than if Aero were disabled. As for not using as many system resources overall, I doubt it's possible without breaking a few things, but it won't slow you down if your laptop is good enough. SuperFetch will cache your commonly used apps so RAM doesn't get wasted as it would in XP. |

| | Vista question The notebook comes with Vista only. Does it possible configure/adjust Vista Home and to disable all so called "bells and whistles", turn off visual effects, etc and to decrease Vista system resources use for the same level as Windows XP? (not more than Win XP) Without breaking main functionality and usability. I.e. Vista must not use more system resources than Windows XP (CPU resources, disk space usage) thanks. |

Metallic gold Superbeetle convertible WITH a two speed automatic and an air conditioner. By the time that little 1600cc four banger got through spinning the transmission and driving the air conditioner there wasn't lots left over for useful work like going _uphill_ Now imagine that your brand new quad core Intel is a 1600cc air cooled horizontally opposed four cylinder, and Vista is the gold Volkswagen convertible wrapped around it... |

Laptop support Windows XP, but if I remove Vista, I loss a Warranty as the service center does not support a warranty on laptops where it original operating system has been replaced. |

And just where do you think prefetch is caching those >commonly used apps? wonder how the majority of posters manager to dress themselves... or do they? SuperFetch is Microsoft smoke and mirrors. Don't think so? Try following Experiment. 1. Get up off your lazy ass fanboys. 2. Standing? Good, now take a deep breath. 3. Look straight ahead take ONE step forward. 4. Now take one step backward. Answer following question: After completing above experiment I am: a. One step forward of where I began b. One step behind where I began c. Exactly where I started. If you answered anything but "c", you're an idiot! How does this pertain to SuperFetch? Well duh... simple. By preloading applications Vista is setting you up to do some preset routine. However break the routine, even a little, and SuperFetch now needs to UNLOAD from memory what it preloaded in error. How much time has been saved now? 1. Get off your lazy ass again. 2. You need to do something different, Oops... take a step backward as SuperFetch needs to clean memory of what it doesn't need but by guessing wrong what you were going to do loaded up some of your RAM with what you don't need. 3. Superfetch now loads the application you actually want to use, more of your time, CPU cycles wasted, take another step backward. 4. Where are you? a. where you began b. one step behind where you began c. you're a stupid fanboy and don't know where you are Are you learning yet? |

HDDs are HUGE today. If you needed a large HDD then why didn't you buy a laptop with a HUGE HDD? Sorry, you obviously did no research before purchase..... |
