| | Store data on Data disk always Simply stated, I want all data that I own stored on my second drive [d:]. I moved all the Users folders , i.e. Documents, Downloads, Pictures, Music, Videos, Contacts, etc. to the D drive. Most programs recognize this and automatically save files to the appropriate locations by default. For example, the Office applications will save documenst and spreadsheets to the D:\Users\MyUserName\Documents folder and programs like Photoshop save image files appropriately in the Pictures folder in D. iTunes saves my music downloads to Music in D. All seems to be well, except that some programs appear to store data to C:\Users\MyUserName\AppData\Roaming. I'm sure this default location is set for a reason but when I backup important data, I don't want to have to search in different places for it. That was my purpose in moving my data folders to the D drive. Theoretically, all the data I care about is stored in D:\Users\MyUserName\FolderName. Is there a way for me to change the default location from C:\Users\MyUserName\AppData\Roaming to something like D:\Users\MyUserName\AppData\Roaming? Also, would changing that default location have saved me from having had to manually move each of the user folders individually? |
