Re: Date & Time incorrect

You probably have a dead battery on the motherboard. Radio Shack, or any
good electronics outlet will have one. It clips on the board, and usually
looks about like a quarter.

No. Are you using a third party time server?

Right click on the time in the notification area (extreme right on the
taskbar) and choose Adjust Date and Time. Click on the Internet Time tab.
The first item tells you what server your computer is set to sync with and
when it was last successfully synced. The default is "time.windows.com".
If you click Settings you get a drop down list of servers.

Do you have a successful sync in the last few hours?

No, it's not normal (but it is possible) for the battery to fail that
soon.

However, note the following:

Before anyone whose clock is running slow rushes out to buy a new
motherboard battery, he should first take note of whether he is losing
time while the computer is running or while it's powered off. If it's
while powered off, the problem *is* very likely the battery. But if
it's while running, it can *not* be the battery, because the battery
isn't used while the computer is running.
