Help an old Granny with Screensavers!!

Hi there. Have Vista 64 and have purchased a 3D screensaver off the
net. Only problem is that I don't know how to get it into the
"screensaver" list.
Found the file in SysWOW64. Currently the only way I can get the
screensaver to work is to "preview" it and leave running.
Driving me bananas!!
Would love you to death if you can help
Cheers.....Pam

Make sure the new screensaver is in the Windows folder so that it will appear on the
screensaver selection list.

Right click any blank space on your desktop.

a.. Select "properties"
b.. Go to the screensavers tab, you should see a drop-down list'
c.. Select the screensaver you downloaded.
d.. Click apply
e.. Ok

Just my $0.02, but screensavers or any file with *.scr extension is something
Vegas wouldn't offer odds on.

I can't make any assumptions about syswow64, but I'd run several virus programs
over that thing long before actually allowing it to execute.

spybot S&D is very good. No better or worse . But it is continuously updated.

It may just be full of advertising, or hijackers, and key loggers. Thingsyou
don't want any trouble with.

If you paid money for it ask the people who took your money.
They should know how to install it.

Wouldn't that be something. Actually buy a virus.

As she said she bought the screensaver... much like you would buy any
executable program. You would then install the purchased file. No?

I virus check everything found on the web. If you think just because you paid
for it' it's safe, you're probably looking at a bad day-week-month down the
road.
Lots of paid stuff comes filled with ads and hijackers.
It's the only way some of them can make a profit.
Yahoo has had these hijackers on their home pages. the web is a nasty place.
And SCR files are just one more instance of where to find bad stuff.

Re: Help an old Granny with Screensavers!!

Thanks everyone for the help. Got it into the screensaver section, but
now realise that because i am using a wireless keyboard the program
just won't cut in. Guess i can kiss my $20 goodbye. Maybe I should
upgrade to XP??
