    Can't Delete Corrupt Recycle Bin

When I log into my Vista Business PC, I get an warning message "The Recycle
Bin on C:\is corrupt, would you like to empty the Recycle Bin?" If I answer
'Yes', it then tells me that some filenames are too long for the destination.
There is actually nothing in the bin. I visited the MS sites and discovered
I need to delete '$Recycle Bin' from C: (not the desktop) and the system will
then build a new one. However when I do so I get the message about the
filenames being to long. I've even tried booting in Safe Mode, but exactly
the same thing happens. Can anyone help?

I would rename from a command prompt. :

    C:\$Recycle.Bin> ren *.* 1.*
