Vista RC1 + disk.sys problem = TRUE!

I'm totally surprised. Yes, i am. I thougt that the installing problem with
"disk.sys" was solved in RC1. But, no my dear Microsoft - it is NOT(Ok i have
not tried to install the 32-bit Vista version yet)!

I was trying to install Beta 2 on my "new" computer. But i gave up after
have tried almost every solution that was presented here.

My computer(I don't mention brands of the 6 internal HDDs They are Serial
ATA 150/300, all but one, that is ATA/133);

A8R32-MVP Deluxe
AMD 4200+ X2
6 internal Hard drives.
1 external, USB 2 = all together almost 2 TB.
1 external/1 internal DVD player/burner
OLD Graphic card RADEON X850XT(will soon be replaced)
Hauppauge HVR-1300 TV-card
Sound Blaster X-Fi Fatal1ty
Allways installed USB peripherals = 12
PSU = Seasonic S12 600W

Well that's what may interest U for this purpose...

I WILL NOT give up this time!!!

Please HELP ME, PLEASE, PLEASE!!!

I hope that you will forgive me for my BAD English...

Re: Vista RC1 + disk.sys problem = TRUE!

Hi Tompa,

Based on your configuration, which is as convoluted as mine, I recommend

* Detach/uninstall as much as possible until after the RC1 install. Look at
software and hardware.
* Run the upgrade from a running copy of XP or Vista, don't boot from CD.
(Don't forget to run the upgrade advisor until it is completely happy)
* Be patient with the install ... don't assume it hung. Some stages take
VERY long. The whole process took about 3 hours on my 3.2 Ghz P4.
* After a successful install, start adding your devies and software
systematically, giving your system a chance to determine any problems and
recommend solutions.

It took me a few tries, but I succeeded in upgrading Beta2 to RC1. The best
advise is that the upgrade advisor warnings should be considered
understated. Make them ALL go away. Then deal with the issues after the
upgrade.

Hope this helps. I know it can be frustrating.
