Vista - Losing Restore Points

I run Vista 64bit SP1 with all the latest updates and I am losing
restore points. If I check for restore points it tells me there are
none and even if I manually create a restore point it is gone if I
want to restore. I do have plenty of space on the hard drives and I
have searched to see if there is an option somewhere that I need to
set.

It is a nice feature when testing new programs or drivers and I would
like to get it back. Ahyone know what is going on here?

If you dual-boot, you will lose your Vista restore points. I used to lose
my WinXP restore points as well, but SP-3 seemed to fix that for XP.

If the SP3 for XP does not fix it for you, then this tutorial should be able to help you.

Thanks but that concerns users that are short on hard drive space - my
drive c: has 76 free GB.

Sorry don't run Windows XP or have a dual boot system, I run Vista
64bit SP1.

Microsoft recommends this resolution to the problem when dual booting XP and
Vista. It is straitforward and quite safe:

Al,

It will work for the Vista 64 bit version. It changes the settings in XP so that they do not erase your Restore Points in Vista. It is what is recommended by Microsoft.

everybody talks about dual boot in vista
is there a dual boot build in,
in a Factory installed Vista computer?
With XP some where in there?

No. Vendors will let you pick one preinstalled Windows but not two. Many
also will not support their products if you add a second OS.
