    mscorwks.dll could not be loaded

I'm running Vista Home Premium on a Dell XPS M1530. I had some file
corruption which I fixed for the most part with running chkdsk among other
things. But I still get the error
    "c:\windows\microsoft.net\framework\v2.0.50727\mscorwks.dll could not be
loaded" when trying to load the Dell Transfer Agent.exe and
    ECenter\EULALancher.exe. I've tried to uninstall microsoft.net framework 2.0
but it's not in my Add/Remove Programs list. When I try to just install the
Microsoft .NET Framework Version 2.0 Redistributable Package (x86)
it says the it's already part of the operating system.

I've pretty much stumped Dell on this one. Any ideas in here?

Go to Start > All Programs > Accessories and right-click
on the Command Prompt and choose "Run as administrator".
Type in: SFC /SCANNOW and press your Enter key.

This procedure will scan Vista's protected system files
and attempt to repair or replace missing or corrupt files.

    Worth a try...

This produced a pretty long log file. In the DOS window the message was:
Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of
    them.

Re: mscorwks.dll could not be loaded

    Further info:

I found the MS KB article for manually uninstalling microsoft.net framework
    2.0 (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/908077 .) However - even though I was
logged on with an acct with admin permissions, the best I could do was
rename the mscoree.dll file and the 2.0..... folder - I couldn't delete them.
I followed the rest of the steps to remove 2.0 but when I went to reinstall
it, it failed. At that point it was very late so I wasn't able to look for a
log file with the reason it failed. I'll check for one today.
