| | Windows Search 4.0 - no Search toolbar visible on Taskbar? OS: Dell OEM Vista Home Premium (updated to SP1) I installed Windows Search 4.0 through Windows Update yesterday and after reboot I don't see any visible difference. I read from many reviews that there is a Search toolbar in the Taskbar after installing (and there is one on my Windows XP machines), so has my Windows Search installation failed? I tried using the offline installer and it said I didn't need to update. Thanks |

Click on the Vista start button and in the "Start Search" box type in what you are searching for. -- Carey Frisch Microsoft MVP Windows Desktop Experience - Windows System & Performance "Mesquire" wrote: Quote: > OS: Dell OEM Vista Home Premium (updated to SP1) > > > > I installed Windows Search 4.0 through Windows Update yesterday and > after reboot I don't see any visible difference. | | Re: Windows Search 4.0 - no Search toolbar visible on Taskbar? Oh! Didn't realize it was a direct replacement - thought I was getting a new toolbar just like with Windows XP "Carey Frisch [MVP]" <cnfrisch@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:09FA1C44-A93A-4C89-97C4-D58CE781C2D3@xxxxxx : Click on the Vista start button and in the "Start Search" box : type in what you are searching for. : : -- : Carey Frisch : Microsoft MVP : Windows Desktop Experience - : Windows System & Performance : : : : : "Mesquire" wrote: : : > OS: Dell OEM Vista Home Premium (updated to SP1) : > : > : > : > I installed Windows Search 4.0 through Windows Update yesterday and : > after reboot I don't see any visible difference. | | Re: Windows Search 4.0 - no Search toolbar visible on Taskbar? Feel lucky, my daughters machine won't even boot after that update. Not to safe mode, not with last known good config. I haven't had time to mess with it yet, but that really aggravates me. If I wanted that, I would have asked for it. For MS to throw it in and put it as a prioroty update sucks. If people were even semi-organized, they wouldn't need that crap built into the OS to mess things up! But i think that'might be just the old one (The screens have different layouts) I can't seem to find ant indication of version numbers for it in the interface. |
