    Vista RC1 and iTunes 7

This build of Vista is very impressive and stable, I have not had any issues
with hardware or most software packages.

Although I invite the wrath of the die hard M'Softies out there I have to
see if anyone else is having video playback issues with iTunes 7?

Audio is perfect - no issues there. I just have random weirdness when
playing videos. For example the image will freeze and then jump ahead to
catch up with the audio or it will only display the top left 1/4 of the
    video.

If anyone has any ideas let me know

    Thank you -

Not Vista... on both my son's PC (XP Home) and my PC (XP Media Center
Edition) the video in iTunes 7 is screwed up. We're both experiencing the
    same thing you exampled below.

    Hey Lang;

There are a lot of complaints about iTunes 7 on the message boards. I
highly doubt it is a Windows (whatever version) problem.

    Mark,

Yeah, I know... I was just pointing out it wasn't Vista... and yeah, man, we
put iTunes7 on my son's computer first and updated his iPod and it took
about 3 hours; I had to manually remove the iTunes and QT folders, download
the iTunes installer multiple times because I suspected a bad download.
Finally got iTunes7 installed and then my son experienced the extended "Do
Not Disconnect" F-U when trying to update his iPod. Finally got it working
    though.

Wasn't going to even attempt it on my PC/iPod but thought, ah, what the
hell... it's late at night, I've got time, why not? Both iTunes7 and iPod
updater completed in less than 10 minutes. Go figure.

    Hi I think I have a problem with iTunes 7 and Vista RC1. 1st, I have
been going ballistic over my iPod because when I connect it, to update
it, many times itunes says that it cannot update the iPod because I do
not have enough write privilages. But i'm an Administrator. Then after
    that happens a bazillion times, sometimes it will actually update;
randomly mind you. If I try to sync after i first plug it in, it says
50: unknown error, cannot update. Also everytime I try to update a
purchased video of the 1st season of The Office, it wont update because
my computer is not an authorized computer, although I have authorized
it. This never happened on XP, so im wondering if its Vista or my iPod.
Also, I have reset my iPod, updated iTunes, etc. etc.
    Please Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Hey guys,
Actually, with vista, the issue lies with your SATA controller if
you're using onboard SATA with an NVidia chipset. As for the issues
with other opperating systems, check out the iTunes help section for OS
Specific instructions on fixing your issues.

    Vista Related - http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=305392
    XP Related - http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=303706

The note at the bottom of the Vista Page reads as follows:
    > Some customers using computers containing NVIDIA nForce Serial ATA
    > (SATA) controllers may experience unexpected behavior when playing
    > videos in iTunes on Windows Vista from a SATA hard drive. iTunes may
    > unexpectedly quit or become unresponsive or the computer may
    > unexpectedly reboot or show a blue screen. Standard IDE hard disks are
    > unaffected by this issue. If your computer contains a standard IDE hard
    > disk, you can copy your video files to that disk and play those copies
    > of the files in iTunes or QuickTime Player. NVIDIA is investigating the
    > issue.

Hope this sheds at least a little light.
