| Win XP Pro / Win Vista Ultimate | Re: start up blocked programs click start, type in msconfig and hit enter. it will open the system configuration utility. if you havent messed with that before it should be on normal startup under the general tab. go to the services tab and hit enable all. then go to the startup tab and enable them all. that should get rid of the message. |

How do I go about unblocking this program? Walt That is a defect in Vista. Increased security they say...but in my opinion, any program that is set to run at startup, with elevated admin rights, should run without Vista/UAC/Defender over-riding my decision. The easiest way around this obvious bug in 'Vista BetaSP1 RTM' it is to run the program as a scheduled task. I wish MS hadn't hired so many of those laid off AOL programmers, they screwed the entire OS up. |

| | Re: start up blocked programs I hear you. But consider the case if Vista automatically allows programs to run elevated at startup. A malware (even if running in non-elevated state) places a rogue program with the requireAdministrator flag set it the manifest, in the per-user startup group. The rogue program will then run with elevated privileges during startup. This is very dangerous. -- Regards, Ramesh Srinivasan, Microsoft MVP [Windows Shell/User] The Winhelponline Blog http://www.winhelponline.com/blog "Not Me" <cargod01@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:OcrNV1R$IHA.3696@xxxxxx Quote: > "Walter Goldschmidt" <wgoldschmidt@xxxxxx> wrote in message > news:38C750BD-4EF9-46D1-9851-D18552B4C53C@xxxxxx > My Vista computer blocks one of my programs at start up.
