| | Dual Boot OS menu Simple question that hopefully will entail a simple answer, I dual boot Vista 32 and Vista 64, How can I rename them in the OS boot choices menu as they both state Microsoft Windows Vista, I know which is which from regular use it would just be nice to have the version edition on the menu as well. Thanks |

Type this command: bcdedit /v note that the 'description' in the "Windows Boot Loader" (bootapp) area is what you want. To change that you use the /set parameter. bcdedit /set bootapp description "Home Premium Edition" You should, of course, consider using the /export command first, for a backup. There are a few GUI editors being offered on the web, but I have no idea how safe they might or might not be. Just goes to show how quickly things change I have MCSE and MSDST but sometimes using vista I hit an area where you think well it work like this in XP but how the hell do i do it in Vista.
