| | Annoying cursor flicker with WMP When Windows Media Player is playing, the mouse cursor flickers between 'Busy in the background' and 'Pointer' cursors, which is annoying. Is there a workaround for this (temporary disable 'Busy' cursor)? |

| | Re: Annoying cursor flicker with WMP I suppose you could assign a keyboard combo to a shortcut that ran a script to re-enable the mouse cursor when you wanted it again. Disabling the mouse device in Device Manager or a script would disable the cursor. -- Please use the Communities guidelines when posting. http://www.microsoft.com/wn3/locales...help_en-us.htm Use the "Ratings" feature. | Vista Home Premium 32 | Re: Annoying cursor flicker with WMP OK, I've had this annoying flicker for quite a while before tracking it down to WMP. Probably because I didn't have WMP open, but I discovered it silently running in the background (Showed in the task list). So what is the real answer here? And I don't mean the turning off the cursor or moving it out of the way stupidity - they're NOT an answer. How is one supposed to work in a graphics paint program with the flickering, as the active 'point' of the mouse alternates position with the flickering. Just what the *&^(*) is WMP doing anyway? Sure I now know how to 'cure' it (kill WMP) but this is a real annoyance. George |

| | RE: Annoying cursor flicker with WMP Try to remove SD card, or whatever WMP tries to sync with. I inserted SD card when WMP was on. Mouse was flickering when it was in PC with WMP running. | Vista Home Premium 32 | Re: Annoying cursor flicker with WMP Fixamer: The problem is that WMP is not 'running' visibly, so you can't 'see' what its accessing. In my case there are no memory cards inserted, only a couple of USB cards. And my system monitor shows it hammering the hard drive, not the USB devices. As soon as WMP is killed, the HD usage goes back to zero. As I said: WTF is it doing? I don't even use WMP to handle my media collection, I use iTunes.
