How to open TCP/UDP ports? [Windows Vista]

    Hello.

I have one problem that drives me crazy, because I can't solve it by myself.
Hope, that you can help me.

It started with my attempts to host online games on Battle.net (a Warcraft 3
gaming server), but it seems to have other issues as well.

The problem is that some UDP ports (particularly 6112 UDP port) are blocked
or closed by something, and I can't open them.

I completely disabled Windows Firewall service throught administrator
options. It's not working right now.
I opened all port in my router and it forwards them properly on my computer.

With all that everything was fine, but right now the 6112 UDP port is closed
    again, and I didn't changed a thing.

I don't have any third-party firewalls... The only thing I have is a Avira
AntiVir antivirus, but it has no firewall.

    So my questions are:
    1. Is there something that opens/closes ports in Windows Vista beside the
    firewall service?
    2. Is there any software that can perform a scan of all ports and configure
    them?
    3. Do Windows Vista have any efficient tool to configure ports or network
settings (even if it's a command line tool)?

I'll appreciate any help or suggestions on this subject.

P.S. I am 100% sure it's not my router problem, because on the other
computer that has Windows XP everything is fine.

    Now eMule is not working.
Connecting to any server gets low id and kad net says "firewalled".
But there is no any firewall.

How did you do this? The only way you could open *all* ports at once is to
put the computer you need accessible in the DMZ. Is that what you did?

    Hello.

I would like to thank you for your post, because after reading it I was able
to solve the problem, at least, for now.
The most important thing is that i realized, that there is no much points
where can be the source of the problem.

I disabled my antivirus programm, but it was not the cause.

So I checked again the router and suddenly found in some advanced options a
subsection that said "Disable port scan and DOS protection". That option was
turned off. So I changed it and after that the problem completely gone.

But I'm sure that this option was not changed before the problem appered. So
it may be some fail in router's automatics...

The only thing I don't get is why there was no problem on other computers
    connected to the same router.

The router is NETGEAR DG834G by the way.

So right now it's ok, thank you again.

Re: How to open TCP/UDP ports? [Windows Vista]

In my router (NETGEAR DG834G) there is a section called "Firewall rules",
that allows you to open any range of ports, and, particularly there are
options "Any (TCP)" and "Any (UDP)" that open a range of ports from 1 to
    65535.
So I considered, that this opens *all* ports, but now as you said that, I am
    not sure...
