Cant turn on event viewer, error 5


Im trying to access the event viewer in vista, but it says the service
isnt running. i go to services.msc and try to turn on Windows event log,
but an error comes up

Windows could not start the Windows Event Log Service on local
computer.

Error 5: Access is denied

Help please?
