mtu tweak

I need to tweak the mtu of my vista network connection to 1492 to
connect properly to my ISP. On my old Win 2000 machine this was easily
done with dr.tcp but this does not seem to work with vista. As a result
I cannot access the MS web site or get updates.

Help.

Cheers

Ian

If you are using a Cable/DSL Router to connecto your DSL, set the MTU value of 1492 on the
Router.
If you don't have a Cable/DSL Router, I *strongly* suggest getting one.

If you are using a DSL Modem+router you should be able to set the MTU value of 1492 on it.

Already done that but I need also to set it at the vista PC end too.

No. You should not have to. I have DSL and I have hooked up Vista computers to my SOHO
LAN without any problems with MTU=1492 set on my Linksys BEFSR81 Router.

Well, my Safecom router has an option to set mtu on the ADSL side and
this I have set to 1492. However, I still have to set the mtu at the PC
end on my Windows 2000 and Linux PCs connected to the router. When this
is done they work fine - without it many web sites are not accessible,
so I am as certain as I can be that setting the mtu in vista will fix
the problem if only I could find out how to do it. I am reluctant to get
a new router just to appease vista.

It's OK I have found the fix. For anyone else who has problems setting
MTU in Vista here is a link to the fix.
