| | Long Beep After Startup, please help Hello, this is my first post here. This forum is nice! Anyway, i have a Motherboard Asus P5KC with integrated audio (Realtek) - Vista Home Premium. So last night i connected my bass to the mic input but i believe the signal was too strong because the sound was clipping bad. So when i played a little harder, suddenly the pc started to make a continuous beep sound. Anyway, i figured that out, for some reason the PC Beep option was all the way up! (Right Click on the Realtek icon on the taskbar -> Sound -> Speakers -> Properties -> Levels -> PC Beep). So i turned PC beep to 0 and then hit the mute icon next to the bar as well. So that took care of the constant beeping. However, i get a loud continuous beep (same pitch) that lasts around 6 seconds everytime i start my pc. The beep occurs at the end of the hourglass screen, just before it plays the Windows Startup sound. It is really annoying and loud. I have tried everything. Uninstall the realtek drivers from device manager and programs. Then reinstall them. Also i have tried disabling the audio device from the bios then uninstalling drivers, then re-enabling it and reinstalling drivers but nothing. I have also tried to turn off the beep from regedit (i saw it in another thread) and i have also tried to stop the beep from the device manager -> show hidden devices -> non Plug n play devices -> Beep -> Startup = disabled. But nothing worked. And it is driving me crazy! Could it be that my sound circuit now has a problem or is it something fixable? Please i need your help. -- ACHIEVEIT ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ACHIEVEIT's Profile: http://winvistaclub.com/forum/member.php?userid=356 View this thread: http://winvistaclub.com/forum/showthread.php?t=20253 |

| | Re: Long Beep After Startup, please help Oh, i forgot to mention, everything works fine though, i mean all sounds are played the way they were meant to. Only that beep is wrong. Everything else works fine. -- ACHIEVEIT ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ACHIEVEIT's Profile: http://winvistaclub.com/forum/member.php?userid=356 View this thread: http://winvistaclub.com/forum/showthread.php?t=20253 |

So windows load normal and no beep as expected since the speakers were disconnected. Then i reconnected them, all sounds ok, restarted and there was that awful sound again. I don't really mess with that but could it be something with the registry? An option that wouldn't change although i uninstalled the drivers? My friend Paul, i guess pc's are beyond my comprehension although i study electrical engineering. I thought why not try to download new drivers from the realtek site? Although when i did this trough Driver Update in windows it showed they are up to date. So i downloaded the drivers (there was a warning that the drivers were general purpose and that you should check your motherboard company's site to find the newest for your occasion). So i checked asus and the drivers there were even older than the ones in the cd that came with the motherboard..go figure. Anyway i downloaded them installed them and everything is fine now. I have PC beep option all the way up and no beep is coming through the speakers. I took a minute to think what you said. PC beep was something different than i had in mind. By turning it to 0 i just covered the problem. That's why it would beep at startup - it hadn't loaded my profile yet that had the pc beep off. The tragedy is that the drivers that were in the cd and that worked just fine until before "the incident" wouldn't work right no matter how many uninstalls and deletes i did. I don't get it really. Anyway, now it works and i will stop experimenting so much. I hope that helps anyone else in the future. I really appreciate your and Yan's time and efforts to help. See ya. -- ACHIEVEIT ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ACHIEVEIT's Profile: http://winvistaclub.com/forum/member.php?userid=356 View this thread: http://winvistaclub.com/forum/showthread.php?t=20253 |
