| Guest | Re: 0.0.0.0 default gateway problem The default gateway is your router address, if you use one. I would reset the power on the router. Also, check the network cables and connectors. -- Please use the Communities guidelines when posting. http://www.microsoft.com/wn3/locales...help_en-us.htm Use the "Ratings" feature. | Guest | Re: 0.0.0.0 default gateway problem Has it ever worked? I would start by making sure the cable to the router or the wireless adapter is working/enabled/connected properly. My laptop has a switch on the side to turn wireless on/off. If using a CAT5, try a different cable. If still no connection, remove the network adapter from device manager and let Vista detect it & reinstall the driver. Make sure the LAN connection is set to get an IP automatically and the router is set to assign an IP automatically (DHCP enabled and enough addresses available for the number of machines you have connected to it). If still no joy, maybe scan for malware...call the manufacturer if still under warranty... -- A Professional Amateur...If anyone knew it all, none of would be here! | Member | Re: 0.0.0.0 default gateway problem I've seen this one on a few machines, in fact one of mine does it intermittently. An ipconfig/all shows it to have the gateway address of the router AS WELL as the 0.0.0.0 entry Still researching the cause but I have found you can right-click "diagnose" the Local area connection that has the problem and then choose "Reset the network adapter .... " it will remove the 0.0.0.0 entry and leave you with the valid GW address again. Hope that helps your situation |
