My Vista Explorer is so slow

A while back, when SP1 was available, I did a clean load of Vista with SP1.
Opening my explorer was nearly instant and opening large directories or big
network drives was done in a split second.
Now when i want to open even a small directory on my local drives I see the
rotating hour glas for quite a while before the folder contents is
displayed. Opening a large directory or a network drive can take half a
minute, sometimes even longer.
I have no idea why this happened and how to get it back to how it was
before. I hardly ever install any new appliations on the pc and try to keep
it fairly clean.
I sure would appreciate any suggestions and comments that helps me figuring
out what's wrong with my system.
I have a Thinkpad T42 with 2GB of memory and a fast hard disk. Vista
Business 32, SP1 and all the recent windows update.
Thanks for your reply.

From my experience with Vista Ult. I can say that with time
and installation of many additional application on your
computer it is inevitable that PC / laptop will be slower.
The only solution is in this circumstances to keep
application and size of folders to bare minimum.

Check also your AV background operations. These
may slow down your laptop noticeably. The last
but not least - be patient. It takes some time to
open large files or folders.

Re: My Vista Explorer is so slow

If it is that slow, you may have malware, run scans & see.
