Vista - corrupt user profile i think

corrupt user profile i think

I have vista ultimate installed on my laptop and when i start it it will get
so far through the boot process (black screen and mouse cursor) and then it
just stays there, what can i do?????

Tried Safe Mode? Press F8 early during boot and you will get a menu of
choices for how to start Vista. If that gets you into Vista check System
Restore points and see if there are any you could back up to.

I had one with a corrupt user profile, had "entered a backup state"
according to the KB I read, and the symptoms were different. It got to the
log on screen, but would not accept my password.
