Compatibility

I am running Vista on a new computer. I used several home publishing
programs on my XP, including MS Home Publishing Express 2000. I cannot get
it to install even under the compatibility utility. It says I am missing
WMF filter. By not being able to install program, I have lost access to all
the projects which I created on my XP computer. I cannot install any of the
other programs either. They start, but then hang up and I have to end the
installation. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

Re: Compatibility

You would do well to check compatibility of programs that you need prior to
upgrading to Windows Vista. Either get newer versions of the software you
need, or run them under Windows XP. You can do this on your older computer,
or install Microsoft Virtual PC and install/configure Windows XP under
Virtual PC.

Re: Compatibility

I had no choice on Vista--it came installed on the pc I purchased. There
isn't any newer version of MS Home publishing that I can find unless mega
bucks. I don't understand the Virtual PC bit, so am leery of trying that.
When I first got the computer, I did install MSHPublishing, but after a
short time, it quit working, and now cannot re-install it. Any other
suggestions that a 76 year old might not be afraid to try.
