56K modem settings

I tried using TCP Optimizer to change the MTU setting for a Vista
computer I was working on, but the modem did not appear in the drop
down list of adapters. Only listed were the wireless and ethernet
connectors. I moved the slider switch from 3000 to 56K and went to
Optimal settings and saved, but the MTU of 576 did not take after the
reboot.

Where do I go in Vista to optimize the internet connection for a
computer that most of the time uses the 56K modem to access the
internet?

Thanks

Re: 56K modem settings

This was a laptop computer, I just removed the modem from the list of
devices and refreshed and let vista find it again and install the
drivers. The modem performance did not seem to change, so that ruled
out a driver issue.

There is no version of TCP Optimizer for Vista. The TCP/IP Stack in Vista
has been rewritten from scratch.
