| | RE: Why can't I see the LNK extension on a shortcut in Vista? Hi Jeff This can be done, however it involves editing the registry. Click the start orb and type 'regedit' into the seaqrch box. Right click on this program and select 'Run as administrator'. After providing administrative credentials, the program will open. Browse to the following Key: 'HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\lnkfile'. You will see an entry 'NeverShowExt'. Right click on this entry and select 'Delete'. Close the registry editor and restart Vista for changes to take effect. To reverse the change, open the registry editor as described above and browse to the same key. In the right hand panel, right click on a blank space, highlight 'New' (should be the only option available) and click 'String Value'. Rename this to 'NeverShowExt'. Close the registry editor and restart Vista for changes to take effect.
