| Vista Home Premium 32bit | STOP error I have had my laptop for 3 weeks, and the past few days I have been receiving an error message that reads "STOP: 0x000000F4 (0x00000003, 0x8632BA50, 0x8632BB9C, 0x81E4E400)". The laptop I have is a Dell XPS M1530, obviously with Windows Vista. I can start up my laptop, but as soon as I try to open any program or even the start menu, it freezes up and eventually leads to the blue screen with the STOP error message. I have tried running a DSKCHK on the C drive, and I was going to run a system restore but the check wiped my restore points, so I can't restore the system (but I couldn't restore the system without first running the check). If anyone knows what is going on, please let me know. Also, if you need more of my computer's stats, just ask. Thanks. |

| Vista Home Premium 32bit | Re: STOP error I would...but I can't even open Explorer without my computer crashing. I just a startup repair, which didn't do much of anything. I tried opening Explorer, but as soon as I did, I got a blue screen again, this time with the error "STOP: 0x00008086". Is there any way I can possibly save the update file to a flash drive, then install it from there? |

So the question is, what does Dell support say about the problem? HTH -pk |

| Vista Home Premium 32bit | Re: STOP error A friend of mine is pretty sure it's a system32 problem since the computer works fine in safe mode. But I was hoping to find a solution myself (or through these forums) before going to the support staff. The college campus I'm at has a free repair service for Dell users...should I give in and just take my laptop to them, see what they think? |

| | Re: STOP error How fast can you get it there? It's 3 weeks old and under warranty, get it handled by the pros! | Vista Home Premium 32bit | Re: STOP error I went ahead and took it to the technology service on campus since it's free for Dell users, plus I have a 3-year warranty on it. The guy at the desk said he thinks it's the hard drive and it may take 7-10 days to fix. Hopefully they can figure out what's wrong with it. |
