Vista Home SP1 will not log off

I have a number of problems that occured since trying to install a
ZoneAlarm update.

The most consistent one being that the laptop will not log-off in
either normal or Safe mode!

If I either try to shut down or restart from Normal or Safe mode it
shows Logging off... and stays that way. I use the power button to
switch off and the start again.
I have run a registry cleaner, CHKDSK, disk cleaner and deleted all
from windows\temp

The other problems, that are hopefully caused by the same issue are, I
no longer have a network connection, various programs start but then
freeze.

Thanks
Nigel

Try uninstalling ZoneAlarm to see if its the culprit or not.

Re: Vista Home SP1 will not log off

Thanks for the advice but unfortunately I have followed the advice of
a ZoneAlarm 'guru' on their forum, to do just that and it has left the
laptop in a worse state (no Net, programs crash or won't start, no
Task Manager)!

I don't know if the laptop is recoverable either now as all the
Restore points have been deleted too!
I felt the stuff he was asking me to delete was a bit 'wholesale' but
he was a 'guru'!!!
