| | driver updates and SP! I have a Toshiba laptop with Vista. Before I engage with Toshiba tech support, I would like to see if anyone here has had this issue and how it was resolved. I keep having blue screens with various messages and when I investigate, it appears that SP1 will solve the issues of the blue screens. I have not been offered SP1 in Windows Update. The only update being offerend is an optional one for Vista64. I have no idea why it wants me to install that update, I have Vista 32, so I hid that update. I looked at the following link to try to figure out what is causing me not to be offered SP1 http://support.microsoft.com/kb/948343 I have one of the drivers that is supposed to be causing the issue of not being offered SP1. The driver is a display driver, Igdkmd32.sys and I have the most recent version Toshiba offers for that driver. However, that most recent version is included in the range of versions that MS says is a problem. Would it be a good idea to download the whole SP1 package and install it or should I keep hunting for a newer version of the driver? Thanks in advance |

| | Re: driver updates and SP! DL In reading my post you should have noticed that I have visited Toshiba support, which is how I learned that they don't offer a more recent version than what I already have. In fact I got that version from Toshiba support. I am looking for someone here who might have come across this issue. He never quite got it. Sometimes just hanging up and calling back gets you a more qualified dweeb. Look for the system administrator (downloadable) version of SP1 at the MS site. Download the complete pack it and manually install. |
