S3 Sleep problem

i am trying to use S3 sleep. computer goes to sleep normally but when i
attempt to wake computer, power lights, HD activity light flashes, power
fans turn off, screen remainsa blank then after a couple of seconds all
power is gone, then after a couple of seconds power returns and goes in
this continued loop. and only rectified by removing power cord. No
problem if bios set to S1 sleep mode

it is gigabyte MB GA-X48- DQ6 bios F7 latest ( F6 was same)
9600 GT PCI Express grapics card
Vista 64 Ultimate sp1
all latest driverss
have even reformatted hard drive so complete clean install .

thanks
Chris

Re: S3 Sleep problem

I agree with Rick. The device and its driver are controlling how well
Windows can do the sleep awakening. The Windows "HAL' interface offers the
driver the 'chance' to do it right, but it's up to the device maker to do
that well enough for your purpose. Settling for hibernation is your cheapest
solution.
