| | Vista Firewall with Advanced Security I followed the suggestion at http://www.pcworld.com/article/15073..._features.html that reads as follows: Quote: Go to the secret place where you can turn on outgoing protection: Click Start, type firewall, and select Windows Firewall with Advanced Security. Click Windows Firewall Properties. The first three of the resulting dialog box's four tabs contain an Outbound Connections drop- down menu. In all three, select Block. Unquote: The net result was that I couldn't connect to Internet. What wrong did I do? Does this suggestion block Internet? |

Does this suggestion block Internet? link is worthless and is no more than an advertisement for Comodo aka Commode. I suggest you put it back the way it was, and then you need to find other articles that explain better how to use the Advanced features of the Windows FW and how/when to use the Advanced features. |

| VISTA HOME PREMIUM X64/ 7 x64 / 7x86 | Re: Vista Firewall with Advanced Security If you do what the article suggests, you need to then allow programs through individually. You can do something similar, if you like by using the free Vista Firewall Control from Vista Firewall Control : Sphinx Software It sits in the notification area and when something tries to connect to the net it pops up asking if you want to allow it or not, just this once, or always - it interacts with the inbuilt firewall. Hope this helps SIW2 |
