Keeping updates and installing them manually from hard drive

Am I able to keep all the updates I downloaded via Windows Update in a
directory on my hard drive for the next time I install Vista, and then
install them manually? So I don't have to download them every time I do
a fresh install. Are they being kept somewhere already on my hard drive?

I believe if you manually download SP1 it includes all previous update before the release of SP1 then all you have to do is download the rest.

Only if you visit MS Administrative update pages, and physically download
the update setup files

Re: Keeping updates and installing them manually from hard drive

No.

If you want you can manually download updates and save them for installation
later

Start with SP1 for Vista, then downloaded future updates from the catalog to
save.

http://catalog.update.microsoft.com/v7/site/Home.aspx
Click Add button for each update you want to download. Once you have what
you want, Click the "Go To Download Basket" link. Type in or browse to the
location where you want the updates saved to and then Click the "Download
Now" button.
Once downloaded, you can then burn them to CD.

How to download updates and drivers from the Windows Update Catalog or from
the Microsoft Update Catalog
