Removing items from context menu

Continued from a closed thread... 'E-mail with Yahoo!' is one that has decided to add itself and using all the references I can find here about context menus, none point to a Yahoo reference in the registry.

Has anyone had this before or able to point me where to have this removed?

Thanks in advance.

Hello Widemonk, welcome to the vista forums,

you may want to have a look at this

Download Context Menu Editor 1.0 - Remove items from the right-click menu - Softpedia

which will allow you to prune the right click menu

all I would add is with anything of this nature be sure you really want to remove an item before you actually go ahead

Hello WideMonk,

If you could edit your post and post the link to the closed thread, it would be easier for others to know the history of what was already tried.

You might see if using the free program ShellExView to look for "Context Menu" entries under the "Type" column to see if you can spot the Yahoo context menu item. If you find it, you can disable it to test and see if that was it or not. Once you find it, you can delete it or just leave it disabled.

ShellExView - Shell Extension Manager For Windows

Hope this helps,
Shawn

Re: Removing items from context menu

A good registry scanner can help in this respect eg

RegScanner

Didnt work the first few times, but remembering something else I saw recently, right-click on the .exe and 'run as administrator' (even though I am the only user profile and am the administrator anyway), worked fine

Thank you very much.

As you can see... now edited (although still a little puzzled why the original topic was closed anyway).

Thanks guys, already found a few things on here that are useful. Probably be back soon haha.

Your welcome Widemonk.

In the newsgroup sections only, all posts that have been inactive for 60 days are automatically closed to prevent them from being hijacked by other posters and itgoing off topic from the original post. Since the newsgroups are mirrored and not actually Vista Forums, we cannot edit them as easily within Vista Forums. We have full control over our forums, so this is not a issue in them.

Hope this helps,
Shawn
