Folder Options

I am using VISTA Home Premium with SP1

What steps do I need to follow in order that each time I open a folder, it
always shows my shortcut as ICONS medium rather than just a list of each
file under that particular folder. I reviewed folder options and thought I
had selected the correct option, however after I go to VIEW and select ICONS
medium and close the folder and reopen it again it changes back to the LIST
view.

Thank you in advance for your support.
