Display Settings

For some reason, the Display Settings dialog is opening on startup.

I'm using Build 5536 on a Dell E1505 Laptop with 1G RAM & ATI Mobility
Radeon X1400 (512 MB Memory). I'm not certain, but I believe it started
after I installed the Office 2007 "Technical Refresh."

Any suggestions? I can click "OK" and the window closes, it's just an
aggravation.

Thanks,
Craig.

Re: Display Settings

The latest build is 5600. I would recommend you upgrade.

Re: Display Settings

That seems to be a problem with the ATI drivers. I had the same thing happen
every time I startup or resume from sleep since I installed their driver.
This has also been noted by several other people.

Re: Display Settings

Seems to be a very common issue. I have the same problem with my nVidia Go
6800. It also has problems with multiple monitors. If I choose the external
display as primary, it forgets it after reboot.

Re: Display Settings

Same problem. Build 5600 and NVIDIA GeForce FX Go5650 video card. Yes, very
annoying - having to close the Display Settings dialogue box every time the
laptop wakes up from sleep.
Is that the issue - that Vista forgets which of 2 possible monitors is my
preferred?
Ironically it didn't start until a week or so after I first installed
Vista... hmmm around the same time that the stuttters stopped in music
playback.

Re: Display Settings

Add me to the list. Upgrade to RC1 5600 from MCE2005, and nVidea Go 6600 on a
laptop. "Display Settings" is automatically running when I turn the computer
on. Is it trying to tell me something?

I haven't changed any settings nor tried using a second monitor, but did
ask it to identify the number #1 monitor.
