why windows explorer folder pane cant synchronize with detial pane

When i highlight a folder in folder pane with keyboard up or down arrow, the
details pane does not change accordingly! Even press F5 also cant refresh
it, need to press enter.

This is not the case in XP.
Bad design of vista explorer.

Re: why windows explorer folder pane cant synchronize with detial pane

Use the arrow keys to move up/down the list on the left. Then press the
space bar.

Re: why windows explorer folder pane cant synchronize with detial pane

i know, either press enter or space bar. But why hav to do it this way? why
not make it automatically?

And the more i use vista, the more i feel dissappointed. Why the disk
defragmenter interface is so simple? I can never see how many percentage of
disk is fragmented, do i need to perform defragmentation, and the current
status of defragmentation. I can only wait......till it finish without
knowing what happen. Is this true?

Re: why windows explorer folder pane cant synchronize with detial pane

All I can say is some like Vista - some do not. I have no problem with it
and fall into the first group. You are obviously in the 2nd group and have
every right to be there if you so desire.

My gosh. It is so easy to learn new things. Do you grouse and moan when you
have to learn a new phone number because a close relative has moved?

When I cease to learn I will be planted beneath the ground.

I am looking forward to the next version of Windows to see what is
"different" - not what is the same!

Re: why windows explorer folder pane cant synchronize with detial pane

What a funny example you gave!

It is NOT NEW things, but it is REDUNDANT thing.
What for creating a new OS that is more troublesome than the old one??
What is the point of learning the so-called new thing that just trouble you
but without any added value?
Are you improving or just like to change for the sake of change??
What for to expect for the different which has no advantage but more
troublesome?

If you like to make more step for no reason but just to change, ofcos, you
may.

Alan u r rite, extremely funny and idiot example he has given!
Closed relative moved house maybe like to make a change in life, but vista
new explorer cant make the folder pane and detail pane syncrohised is for
what reason? Lets guess: More beuty in look? More "special"? Or to sacrifice
for other functionality?

I use folder pane often. Vista folder pane is suck!
What for highlight a folder in folder pane but in detail pane shows the
files in other folder pane? It is a bug! Not a change!

Re: why windows explorer folder pane cant synchronize with detial pane

It is no different that running a program from a desktop. You double click.
The first click selects the icon and highlights it. The second click opens
the program for running. Or, you select and press the enter key. Either way
it is two motions.

Scroll down to the folder you want to "select". Press the space bar (only
three inches away from most scroll keys) to open the folder to work with the
files.

If the folder opened automatically, as you desire, every folder would open
as you scroll down the list. If your picture folder happened to be one of
them it could take a bit of time to render the thumbnails. Would this make
the system hiccup? I don't know. But why have folders open that you are not
interested in at that particular moment?

It is perfectly logical the way it is now done - to me!
