| Junior Member Rep Power: 1 ![]() | Program Files - Help Please!! I just got a new PC and need some help. I have windows Vista Home Premium 64-Bit. When I go to start and select ''All Programs'' only some of the a few of the things I have installed are there. So I went onto C: and there is two differnt Program Files. One is called just ''Program Files'' and the other one is called ''Program Files (x86)''. The x86 one has all of the other stuff I have installed. Why is it like this? How do I get it to just be 1 folder with all my programs that I can select from the start menu like it normally is? I want it to be like on Vista 32-bit where when you go to Start and All Programs all your installed files are there not just the 64-Bit ones. I've been trying all day and cant do it! Help Please!! |

| Guest | Re: Program Files - Help Please!! This is by design. Leave it as it is. Don't try to move it around, you'll mess it up. "Usama" <guest@xxxxxx-email.com> wrote in message news:bd0981cf4b9e2075b6f77146e8254915@xxxxxx-gateway.com...

| Guest | Re: Program Files - Help Please!! This behavior is by default. Using 64 bit programs on a x64 Vista will put everything into the default folder which is Program Files.32 bit programs will go into another folder named Program Files and will be x86. X86 stands for 32 bit -- Peter Please Reply to Newsgroup for the benefit of others Requests for assistance by email can not and will not be acknowledged. | Guest | Re: Program Files - Help Please!! They do show up. Read my post again. In Program files all x86 is 32 bit as is when going to Properties of any file it will also indicate it as such -- Peter Please Reply to Newsgroup for the benefit of others Requests for assistance by email can not and will not be acknowledged. Hello Usama, Usually when you install either 32bit or 64bit programs, they should have an option to allow them to place a shortcut in the Start Menu and sometimes on the Desktop. If they do not, then you will need to manually create a shortcut from the program's ".exe" file and move it the Start Menu All Programs area. This tutorial will show you how to Move/Add that shortcut to the Start Menu. Start Menu - Shortcuts Hope this helps, Shawn | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
