| | MOUSE PROBLEM New Dell Inspiron 530s. 4 button + optical wheel dell mouse. Mouse Suite 98 installed. Driver software is ICO.EXE. Regular Microsoft mouse driver installed. Problem: Every few hours, the mouse BUTTONS stop working. Mouse pointer is still visible on screen and can move but buttons and wheel don't work. Need to reboot computer to restore all mouse functions. With Dell's assistance, we have done the following: Changed USB ports for mouse. Uninstalled the mouse driver (Microsoft) and allowed it to reinstall. Uninstalled all USB drivers and allowed them to reinstall. Dell believes the problem is some sort of software conflict that freezes the screen. If it were a mouse hardware problem, the pointer wouldn't keep moving and the buttons would not regain their function after reboot. Currently, stopped all startup items except antivirus. Mouse works with basic buttons and scroll only. Waiting to see if the problem reoccurs. QUESTION: Is there anything in the literature or does anyone have any thoughts about software conflicts that freeze mouse buttons on screen? Thank you. |

| | Re: MOUSE PROBLEM From the description of the mouse driver software, I say it's a software (Mouse Suite *98*) compatibility issue. See if you can find an up to date driver on Dell's web site. -- Bob Eyster MS Windows Vista Home Premium "its_my_dime" <its_my_dime@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:eBNE7dULJHA.3496@xxxxxx Quote: > New Dell Inspiron 530s. 4 button + optical wheel dell mouse. Dump Mouse Suite 98. It causes problems. Stopping all startup items is not the best idea. If you used MSCONFIG to do this, return and restart all of the stuff that you shut down.. -- Mike Hall - MVP How to construct a good post.. http://dts-l.com/goodpost.htm How to use the Microsoft Product Support Newsgroups.. http://support.microsoft.com/default...help&style=toc Mike's Window - My Blog.. http://msmvps.com/blogs/mikehall/default.aspx |

The one that doesn't load GROOVE.EXE seems to be ok. I gather from reading that there may be some kind of conflict with mouse suite 98 and MS Office 2007. I know that GROOVE relates to Office but I cannot figure out exactly what it does. Thoughts. Quote: > |
