virtual memory

Hi,

I can use for virtual memory the available free space on partition F on my
second hd
used by Vista on partition C? or is necessary that the virtual memory used
by Vista is on the same Vista partition?

Thanks

Re: virtual memory

Put it on another partition and allow the system to manage it.

Re: virtual memory

Not clear.

I have 3 partitions:

C is Vista 32 Ultimate first hd> virtual memory here is necessary?
D is Programs first hd> virtual memory here is necessary?
F is Archive second hd> virtual memory here is necessary?

If I put my virtual memory on the second hd partition F managed by the
system is enough? Not problems at startup of virtual memory failure? still
happen to me!

Thank you

Re: virtual memory

Are you now saying that you are having a problem with virtual memory? What
is the problem? Please be exact in your answer and give the "exact" wording
of any error message you receive. Where is the virtual memory (page file)
located now. How big is the file? How much free space is available on the
partition on which it is located?

Details! Details! Details!

Re: virtual memory

I usually install an old HDD and assign the swap file to that drive
exclusively.
I use any HDD over 8GB and let Windows manage the size of the file.
If it needs more room than that, something is wrong.
Having a dedicated drive means no waiting while the drive tries to read
programs or files on other sections of the disk.
The swap file can be on any partition of any HDD that the OS recognizes.

Vista x64 Ultimate

Re: virtual memory

I usually leave 128MB on C: with the Vista x64 Ultimate OS. I put the 16GB swap file on its own hard drive.

Re: virtual memory

Problems? Not now but in the past.

My virtual memory now is 200 to 800MB located on partition C (Vista Ultimate
OS)
Space is enough the partition size is 48GB and used 13GB.
I want to clear this virtual memory on partition C and move it to partition
F on the second hd (250GB) that has a lot of space available.
Possible have all the virtual memory only on the second hd and used by Vista
here?
I set automatic managed by the system?

Thank you
