| | [BUG] Program access too restrictive in Vista build 5200 Hi, I have installed: Windows Vista 5600 64-Bit Running on: AMD Sempron 64 1.8GHz 1GB RAM 7200RPM 250GB SATA drive nVidia 128MB 5200FX graphics ( Aero capable ). When a user tries to run javac ( The java compiler ), he must gain administrative privileges to perform the compilation. This restriction is extremely inconvenient. Examining the Java bin directory, the following programs are marked as requiring authentication: appletviewer, apt, extcheck, HtmlConverter, idlj, jar, jarsigner, javac, javadoc, javah, javap, jconsole, jdb, jps, jstat, jstatd, native2ascii, packager, rmic, serialver The following programs do not require authentication: java, javaw, javaws, keytool, kinit, klist, ktab, orbd, pack200, policytool, rmid, rmiregistry, servertool, tnameserv, unpack200 Very inconvenient indeed. /Þór |

| | Re: [BUG] Program access too restrictive in Vista build 5200 I wish I could. That was the next bug I was going to report - The bug report tool tries to use the file transfer manager to upload the bugreport. And, it fails with a "Incorrect handle state was reported by network. Error code = 12019" Kind of catch-22, isn't it ? /Þór "Tom Ziegmann" <tziegmann@msn.com> wrote in message news:%23lGOZE53GHA.600@TK2MSFTNGP05.phx.gbl... > Please file these with the feedback tool, as no one from MS will see > these. > "Þór Sigurðsson" <thor@orku.net> wrote in message > news:%23xyi9C53GHA.3344@TK2MSFTNGP05.phx.gbl... >> Hi, >> >> I have installed: >> Windows Vista 5600 64-Bit >> Running on: >> AMD Sempron 64 1.8GHz >> 1GB RAM >> 7200RPM 250GB SATA drive >> nVidia 128MB 5200FX graphics ( Aero capable ). >> >> When a user tries to run javac ( The java compiler ), he must gain >> administrative privileges to perform the compilation. >> >> This restriction is extremely inconvenient. >> >> Examining the Java bin directory, the following programs are marked as >> requiring authentication: >> >> appletviewer, apt, extcheck, HtmlConverter, idlj, jar, jarsigner, javac, >> javadoc, javah, javap, jconsole, jdb, jps, jstat, jstatd, native2ascii, >> packager, rmic, serialver >> >> The following programs do not require authentication: >> >> java, javaw, javaws, keytool, kinit, klist, ktab, orbd, pack200, >> policytool, rmid, rmiregistry, servertool, tnameserv, unpack200 >> >> Very inconvenient indeed. >> >> /Þór > |

| | Re: [BUG] Program access too restrictive in Vista build 5200 To correct that open the FTM, then open the options and unselect HTTP on the options page. Your bug reports should go through after that. -- Tom Ziegmann Microsoft Certified Professional Windows Vista / Server Longhorn TechBeta Tester Windows Server 2003 SP2 TechBeta Tester "Þór Sigurðsson" <thor@orku.net> wrote in message news:ujmPRX53GHA.3840@TK2MSFTNGP06.phx.gbl... >I wish I could. > > That was the next bug I was going to report - The bug report tool tries to > use the file transfer manager > to upload the bugreport. > > And, it fails with a "Incorrect handle state was reported by network. > Error code = 12019" > > Kind of catch-22, isn't it ? > > /Þór > > "Tom Ziegmann" <tziegmann@msn.com> wrote in message > news:%23lGOZE53GHA.600@TK2MSFTNGP05.phx.gbl... >> Please file these with the feedback tool, as no one from MS will see >> these. >> "Þór Sigurðsson" <thor@orku.net> wrote in message >> news:%23xyi9C53GHA.3344@TK2MSFTNGP05.phx.gbl... >>> Hi, >>> >>> I have installed: >>> Windows Vista 5600 64-Bit >>> Running on: >>> AMD Sempron 64 1.8GHz >>> 1GB RAM >>> 7200RPM 250GB SATA drive >>> nVidia 128MB 5200FX graphics ( Aero capable ). >>> >>> When a user tries to run javac ( The java compiler ), he must gain >>> administrative privileges to perform the compilation. >>> >>> This restriction is extremely inconvenient. >>> >>> Examining the Java bin directory, the following programs are marked as >>> requiring authentication: >>> >>> appletviewer, apt, extcheck, HtmlConverter, idlj, jar, jarsigner, javac, >>> javadoc, javah, javap, jconsole, jdb, jps, jstat, jstatd, native2ascii, >>> packager, rmic, serialver >>> >>> The following programs do not require authentication: >>> >>> java, javaw, javaws, keytool, kinit, klist, ktab, orbd, pack200, >>> policytool, rmid, rmiregistry, servertool, tnameserv, unpack200 >>> >>> Very inconvenient indeed. >>> >>> /Þór >> > |
