I've been using the "K-Lite" codecs since Vista was released. No problems.
Used them for years under XP also.

For QuickTime format (*.mov), QuickTime Alternative 1.81;
http://www.filehippo.com/download_qu...ernative/2615/
The latest version is 2.70, but does not work in any other media player. It just
for streaming.

For Real (*.ram), Real Alternative 1.90;
http://www.filehippo.com/download_real_alternative/

DivX; DivX Play 6.8.4.7;
http://www.filehippo.com/download_divx_play/
Only install the codec. Some even say to avoid DivX as well, fair enough!

That should get you through many file formats. For codecs do *** NOT *** assume
the more you have the better. The inverse, as in, the less codecs that can deal
with more formats, the better.

I just downloaded and installed 2.70 last night and it worked with
Media Player Classic 6.4.9.1 (Gabest).

If you want to install each and every codec you need one at a time, then
knock yourself out. I'll stick with the single install.

Let's just agree to disagree.

Don't work yourself up over it, it's not something you've done before anyway. For
the benefit of your understanding Kerry does not require 10,000 codecs for his
10,000 multimedia files.
