Vista - Can't record stereo mix, and it isn't disabled... can't record line either?

I did a bit of research of ways to get around not being able to record
into a program like Audacity.
I don't have Stereo Mix or anything like it as a disabled device. So I
was going to get a double-ended thing to record to line-in, which would
work... if I could record to line-in! But the microphones in my sound
card are not working... when I set them to default and hit record in
Audacity, I get an error.

I've attached a picture to show my soundcard's recording devices and
that there is no input option for Audacity.

I think the version you are using is not compatible with your pc

Um. I don't think it would even run if it was incompatible, sir.

But just for fun, I downloaded 1.3.5 Beta and now what do I do?
