| | Vista Sleep to Unexpected Shutdown I have recently been experiencing "unexpected shutdown" errors. I'm running 32-bit on a Dell Inspiron 1520 with what I believe are all up-to-date drivers. The error information is as follows: Problem signature: Problem Event Name: BlueScreen OS Version: 6.0.6001.2.1.0.768.3 Locale ID: 1033 Additional information about the problem: BCCode: 9f BCP1: 00000003 BCP2: 83A3EDA0 BCP3: 861BD030 BCP4: 846AB688 OS Version: 6_0_6001 Service Pack: 1_0 Product: 768_1 Files that help describe the problem: C:\Windows\Minidump\Mini102308-01.dmp C:\Windows\Temp\WER-41870-0.sysdata.xml C:\Windows\Temp\WER12A5.tmp.version.txt Read our privacy statement: http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?link...3&clcid=0x0409 I have searched all over the internet for BlueScreen 9f BCCodes but most of them seemed to not apply specifically for me. A lot of people seemed to think that this kind of error is hardware-based and, because this laptop is over a year old, I wouldn't argue too quickly about that. I only hope that there might be something I'm missing? Any help would be greatly appreciated. | | Re: Vista Sleep to Unexpected Shutdown Thanks so much for the timely responses. In the previously posted link, this is stated: SYMPTOMS When you wake a Windows Vista-based computer from sleep, you may receive a Stop 0x9F error message that resembles the following: STOP 0x0000009F (parameter1, parameter2, parameter3, parameter4) DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE This problem occurs when a device that uses an Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (IEEE) 1394 connection is connected to the computer. For example, the device may be a Maxtor One Touch II 300GB model external hard disk, an Apple iPod, or some other IEEE 1394-based device. The next time I use the Windows partition I will apply the update given in the article. Howerver, I was reading that some laptop webcams have caused this problem on various computers so I reinstalled my respective drivers. However, I do sync an iPod using this computer and am wondering how an iPod could cause a power state failure, especially because it is only connected while syncing. Any ideas? -- D3PyroGS ------------------------------------------------------------------------ D3PyroGS's Profile: http://forums.techarena.in/members/d3pyrogs.htm View this thread: http://forums.techarena.in/vista-help/1060261.htm http://forums.techarena.in |

| | Re: Vista Sleep to Unexpected Shutdown Hi! I have Sony VAIO VGN-CS11S. The problem is: sometimes it reboots when in standby and the following message appears on the screen: BlueScreen Version SO: 6.0.6002.2.2.0.768.3 ID regional settings: 1026 Additional information about the problem: BCCode: 9f BCP1: 00000003 BCP2: 8550C030 BCP3: 86F8A030 BCP4: 86A473D8 OS Version: 6_0_6002 Service Pack: 2_0 Product: 768_1 Files helping to describe the problem: C:\Windows\Minidump\Mini101809-01.dmp C:\Users\sony\AppData\Local\Temp\WER-67033-0.sysdata.xml C:\Users\sony\AppData\Local\Temp\WER426C.tmp.version.txt I also have to mention that it is still guarantee period; untill now they first exchange my VideoCard and MotherBoard (two weeks after I bought it) and two weeks ago I had the fan exchanged - everithing happened in the VAIO OFFICIAL WARRENTY SERVICE in GERMANY. So apparently my laptop is defect from the very begining but Sony doesn't want to change it. I have to try to solve the problem by myself. PLEASE HELP ME - I'M DESPERATE! There is another problem - when booting, "Media test failure - check cable" appears. This didn't apper before the last guarantee service intervention; it appeared after they exchanged the fan. So... I realy don't know what to do!
