Service Pack 1

I tried to install 'Windows Vista Service Pack 1, but it failed.

Wiindows update no longer lists this pack.

Th pack was listed as important, so can I install it from another
site. Or, can it now be left because it is no longer listed in Windows
Update.

Thanks

No, you're going to want SP1. You need to find out why it failed and fix
that.

Since you didn't give any information about the failure (error messages,
etc.) I can't point you to a specific fix. I suggest you look here to start
your troubleshooting:

Maybe the following article would be worth a look:

I am certainly no expert, but I was told to disable my avti virus program.
Once I did that, it installed just fine.

Not true. If you do not install SP1, you will not be able to install the
soon-to-come SP2.

SP1 made Vista more stable for me. Worth installing it just for that.
