Hi,

As per subject, will the article be made available, or does anyone have
a link to the update details?

Cheers

Thanks VeGaNKo & Not Even Me, but it's the article giving more details
I'm after, and that's the one which is missing from both the website and
the inbuilt Windows Update Vista x64 link.

The link is (and sorry for the length),
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/i...fkbid%3d957200

But what I get is,
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=gp;[ln];kberror&style=error&errurl=%2fDefault.aspx%3fkbid%3d957200

Maybe they haven't written the KB for the update yet cause it just came out.

Possibly. MS typically have these articles ready for reading though.

Hi all this is my first post on this forum, but not my first visit here that's also why I've registered

As regarding this topic, I just don't understand why MS offers this update while there's no description is available yet. Why should I just install something I don't know what it does with my system, what files and why are changed. Even the 'scenarios' that are mentioned on the download site are not explained, what scenarios they could be etc..

Re: Article KB957200 (Update for Windows Vista for x64-based Syste

I agree. I have automatic updates on and last night I was automatically
rebooted. I feel that this might be appropriate for a critical security
update in the off-cycle (not second Tuesday), but for a reliability update!?
- and one with no KB article !?

It has me asking myself has someone hacked into microsoft's update "machine"
and infected all of us. I think I am going to uninstall it until some info is
available.

There was both a "recommended" AND an "important" Vista update for my
machine on the 28th: KB957200 (recommended) and security update
KB953155 (important).

You should check your list again.

I had both of those also.

The recommended (KB957200) is similarly phrased to the one on the 10th
September (KB954366) and seems like it should really be installed.
However, the link http://support.microsoft.com/kb/957200 doesn't work
like the http://support.microsoft.com/kb/954366 does.

Be that as it may there is a direct download for KB957200 on Microsoft's
website (as detailed in VeGaNKos post) and that suggests that the update
is legitimate.

Still, it would be nice to know in more detail what might be affected
should there be a problem.
