First of all: if someone is willing to assist me on this I, in turn,
am willing to (re-) install Vista and/or run Easy Transfer (ET)
as often as necessary to get this working.

I think my scenario won't be to rare, since many experienced
users will do a clean install of Vista rather than an update that
would be messed up due to incompatible software, drivers and
whatnot.

Ok, now for the story. In my first posting regarding ET, I've
probably found the source of the slowness in that Vista some-
how managed to recognize my USB-ports NOT to be of the
fast 2.0-variety, which they in fact are (intel 945 chipset).
IIRC(!), this wasn't the case with build 5600.

The migration-data collected by ET were stored on an exter-
nal harddrive that conects to the USB-port and ET pulled the
data off there.

This time I copied the migration-data onto the partition Vista
is installed on and the import-process went very fast.

I was shown the imported newsgroups by name and this time
I wasn't shown any numbers (how many of the messages of
each importet newsgroup are already processed).

After the process had fiinished I started Windows Mail and
received the message that the data of the newsgroups couldn't
be imported.
